The Tartarus Pen
By Panahinuva

Tess had found the pencase in a hidden panel in the wall of her classroom.  She’d been fiddling with the wood panel next to her desk during her biology lecture when it had come loose, revealing a darkened space behind it.  She had managed to stop the panel from falling and had peered behind it.  Within she had found an ornate pencase, gilded with what appeared to be gold and covered in some kind of purple scaly material.
She hid it in her backpack and made tracks for her little alcove in the library as soon as class ended.  She sat down and opened it curiously, pushing up her large, round glasses to get a good view of it.  Inside was...a pen.  Certainly, a fancy pen, purple like the case and wrapped in gold wiring, with a greenish gem embedded in the top.  She smiled.  It was a really cool looking pen.  However, looking at it closer she realized it wasn’t quite as fancy as it looked.  There were a few scrachmarks on the gold revealing grey underneath and the gem was dull and clearly fake.  She sighed.  “Well, at least I have a new pen.”  She sighed, before frowning.  “If it even works.”
She pulled out a piece of paper and pressed the gem to pop out the tip.  As she did so, the gem started to glow, the green light shining on her shortish dark hair.  Tess blinked.  “Wow, cool.”  She said, grinning.  “Let’s see if it works.”  She scribbled on the paper.  As she did so, her hair descended, growing from the top of her neck to the middle of her back.  Tess didn’t notice.  The pen wrote perfectly, the ink smooth and consistent.  “Yes!”  She said, punching the air.  “Free fancy pen!”  The bell then rang.  “Crap!”  She squeaked, hopping out of her alcove and hurrying to her next class.
Tess’s next class was European History.  She sighed.  Not much use for her pen in this class.  The class just sat and listened to the teacher lecture.  Tess tried to focus on the class, but she was too distracted by her shiny new pen.  So she started doodling with it.  She was so focused on her doodling that she completely failed to notice class ending and only noticed when her friend nudged her.
“Hey!  Tess, class is done!”  The boy said.  Tess glanced up at him and the guy blushed.
“Oh, thanks.”  She said, putting her pen away and folding the paper away with a slight frown.  She had lost track of what she had been drawing as well.  It seemed to be the start of a drawing of a lithe woman with...wings?  Tess shook her head and started on her way to her next class, not noticing the unfamiliar jiggle that had infested her formerly flat chest.  Boys (and a few of the girls) walking by were also giving her equally unfamiliar lingering glances.
She made it to her next class, art.  Even less opportunity to use her pen.  She pouted, quickly scrawling her name on top of her paper, before pursing her lips.  Were they...thicker?  No, she’d always had nice, kissable lips.  She was just weirded out by all the looks she’d been getting in the hallway.  She sat down, adjusting her seat so her tail nub wasn’t squished uncomfortably before starting work on her painting, once again dropping off into her own little world.
Tess was pulled out of her imagination as her shoulder was tapped again.  “Miss Agora, I do not consider that appropriate material for this class.”  Her art teacher said disapprovingly.  Tess looked at her painting and blushed.  She was painted a carefully articulated orgy scene, involving several winged and cloven hoofed women.
“I’m sorry, I...wasn’t keeping track of what I was drawing.”  Tess replied, crumpling up the picture.
The teacher shook her head.  “You seem a little strange today, Tess.  Try to keep your attention in place.”  She said, walking away.  The girl pulled out her pen and fiddling with it.  She was itching to write again.  She didn’t know what was so exciting about it, but she felt a deep ache in her heart...and rear for that matter.  She rubbed her tail nub and pulled out her todo list.  She could update this at least.  She scribbled down her history homework and her grocery list before sighing with relief.  That was better.  Her tail flicked down, scratching an itch on her leg with its heart shaped tip before going back to hanging behind her.
The walk through the hall to English was once again somewhat disorienting.  She was attracting real stares and she was really starting to enjoy the feeling.  She even let a slight sway enter her stride, swinging her nice little booty for all to watch.  Her tail swung with it, although it didn’t draw quite as many eyes.
When she arrived in English class, she sat down impatiently, fiddling with her pen, waiting for their assignment.  When it came, she immediately started scribbling, warmth filling her, extending out from her writing hand.  Ten minutes in, she had to adjust slightly, to let her wings breath.  When she reached the end of the first page, she had to adjust her bra.  Her DDs had been giving her trouble lately.  Her mom had said she would stop growing but she wasn’t sure...As she reached the end of the second page, she tapped her hooves on the floor thoughtfully.  Yeah...That seemed about good.    She put the pen back in her pocket, running a sly hand down her curves.  She was getting hungry again...Good thing there were plenty of virile boys around.  So long as she didn’t get distracted again.
As she left class, she bumped into one of her friends, Nancy.  A mousy girl who she knew was deeply envious of her.  She smiled.  Well, she’d give the girl a little present.  “Hey, Nancy!” She said, holding out the pen.  For some reason she didn’t feel like she needed it anymore.  “Here, take this, with my blessing.”  The other girl’s eyes shined as she took the pen.
    “Thanks, Tess!”  She said eagerly.
Tess grinned and bumped the girl gently with her curved horns.  “Now run along, I’ve got a meal to catch.”  She said, swaying down the hall after a football player.
Nancy looked down at the pen.  It felt warm in her grip.  But that made sense, Tess had just been using it.  She headed for the library.  Might as well make a start on her essay.
This is the contest reward for :iconwhightknight:. Sorry it took so long, I got stuck on it for a while. Finally managed to get it unstuck. Not sure what I'm going to work on next. Contest entries kind of wear my brain out so I might take a break and do some of my own stuff. Enjoy!
